Cranberry Creek Farm Newsletter

Hello Friends of Cranberry Creek Farm,

A few things have happened since my last note. Maple syrup season came and went. We had about 100 taps in, and had a few good runs. All the cows have calved except for one. We have had 3 bull calves and one heifer calf. One was stepped on and didn't make it, another was just weak and did not make it. The jerseys are all first calf heifers and sometimes first timers don't catch the mothering instinct right away. I read recently that when you have live stock you will have dead stock, and that's just the way it is. We already processed our first batch of broiler chickens. The egg layers are producing well with the days getting longer. We already have lettuce to sell from the greenhouse. I have finally made it back into the cheese room and have 2 awesome batches of new cheeses that will be ready for sale in a couple months. There is probably much much more to tell you but I am already late for chores and I am short on help right now. If anyone knows anyone who would be a good farm manager tell them we are hiring.

The farm store will be open today from 1-5. We will have eggs, pork, cheese and lettuce mix from the greenhouse. I hope to see you all there!

Dairy Goats

We have been raising quality registered Alpine Dairy Goats since 2011. Many of our does are directly related to top 10 milkers. We graze our goats on rotated pastures and woods. They receive a non-GMO grain at milking time and they also have free choice access to 12 different mineral supplements every day. In the winter they eat hay made on our farm or close by, and non-GMO grains.
